Carlux is a small village located in the Black Perigord, not far from Sarlat and Sainte-Nathalène.I decide to do a stopover and discover all its secrets! This stone built village with a medieval atmosphere seduced me straight away. Time did not stop in Carlux, since the bell of the Sainte-Catherine Church continues to chime, but some of the houses look like they are from another time I get.

During the Hundred Years War the castle was again attacked and set alight and in 1481 King Louis XI ordered the chateau be destroyed. Duing the Middle Ages Carlux developed and prospered as it sat on important trade routes between Sarlat and Souillac.

1. Château de Carlux The Château de Carlux dates back to the 10th century and was a stronghold of the viscounts of Turenne. During the Hundred Years' war, the castle of Carlux was taken by the English troops in November 1405. The castle did not fare well and was burned in 1406.

It is a very pretty village with the ruins of a castle in its centre along with a medieval halle and charming stone houses with the steep tiled rooves traditional to the Dordogne department.
